Special Needs Education

We adapt the pre-school curriculum to suit the individual needs of each child. Our highly structured programme is tailored to help each child with special needs to develop his/her individual potential optimally.

In our structured environment, children are able to acquire the following:-

  • Independence- through working on their own

  • Concentration- as they become absorbed in interesting activities;

  • Co-ordination- with the development of fine and gross motor skills;

  • Self-esteem- as they discover their strenghs;

  • Social awareness- learning to mix with, share and co-operate with other children, teachers and other adults;

  • Orderliness- through the work-cycle, they learn to start, work at and complete each task correctly;

  • Intellectual development- their understanding of the limits and possibilities of the apparatus as well as their own strengths and weaknesses develops their knowledge and intelligence.

  • Speech and Language Development

Appropriate exercises are designed to develop each child's language and communication abilities. For children who are yet to develop speech and for those who have articulation problems, we put them through oral-musculature exercises.

  • Sensorial

The sensori-motor activities atimulate the five senses thus enabling the children to form new concepts through concrete experiences. The design and presentation of the materials encourage the children to be self-disciplined and to explore on their own.

  • Mathematics

Through the Phonics scheme, we strive to develop children into fluent readers and good spellers. We adopt Phonics 44, a system of spelling pattern progression devised by Dr. Joyce Morris. Children learn the relationship between the speech sounds (phonemes) of standard English and alphabet letters (graphemes). Daily activities such as stories, rhymes, songs and games help children build up their vocabulary and grammar.

  • Practical Life
